On November 14, 2023, the commissioning ceremony for the first phase of the project—featuring an annual production capacity of 50,000 tons of polylactic acid and 75,000 tons of lactic acid—was solemnly held in Wuhu, Anhui Province, at PuliSi Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as PuliSi).

Xiao Lin, Chairman of Puli Si, delivered a speech, and General Manager Li Rongqun announced the commencement of the production launch ceremony.

At the commissioning ceremony, representatives from PuliSi provided attendees with a comprehensive overview of the company’s R&D capabilities, innovative technologies and products, project progress, and future development prospects, deepening their understanding of PuliSi. The successful launch of this project marks a significant milestone in PuliSi’s leap‑forward growth. We sincerely look forward to collaborating with industry peers to inject fresh momentum into the sector’s high‑quality development and to continue contributing to the national polylactic acid industry and efforts to address white pollution. As a rising “star” in China’s biodegradable materials sector, PuliSi has garnered widespread attention and strong support from industry experts and the broader public, thanks to its cutting‑edge R&D achievements, meticulous process engineering, and an automated, standardized production chain. Following the commissioning ceremony, guests toured PuliSi’s smart manufacturing facility, accompanied by company representatives. During the visit, Vice General Manager Bian Xinchao served as the principal guide, offering a detailed presentation on PuliSi’s corporate history, brand culture, intelligent production processes, and product‑development systems, while showcasing the company’s substantial accomplishments in innovation and R&D. The next‑generation industrial-scale polylactic acid production technology, the innovative process layout, and state‑of‑the‑art automated equipment left attendees thoroughly impressed, eliciting repeated praise. It is worth noting that PuliSi’s smart factory employs automated, standardized production lines that leverage advanced control systems to streamline operations, optimize plant layouts, shorten cycle times, and boost productivity. This ensures stable process continuity, enhances product consistency, and further elevates overall quality.

The milestone significance of Puli’s full-industry-chain development

The successful commissioning of the PuliSi project marks a pivotal step in the company’s full‑chain industrial development and represents a major milestone for its growth. Founded in 2021, PuliSi builds on the “next‑generation polylactic acid industrialization technology” developed by the Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Changchun, centering on PLA production while pursuing a comprehensive industrial chain that integrates R&D, manufacturing, and sales across the “biomass–lactic acid–lactide–polylactic acid” value chain. With a total investment of RMB 8.6 billion, the company has planned a 1,800‑mu site, targeting an annual lactic acid capacity of 500,000 tons and a polylactic acid capacity of 350,000 tons. Currently, the first phase of its smart factory—invested at RMB 2 billion and capable of producing 50,000 tons of PLA and 75,000 tons of lactic acid per year—is fully operational. Polylactic acid (PLA) is a bio‑based, fully biodegradable polymer that serves as a key pillar and enabler of China’s national carbon‑peak and carbon‑neutral strategies. Combining excellent processability and biocompatibility with natural antibacterial properties, PLA finds wide application in packaging, textiles, biomedical fields, and more. Meanwhile, lactic acid—the raw material for biodegradable PLA—boasts outstanding biocompatibility, antimicrobial performance, and pH‑regulating capabilities, making it indispensable across the biodegradable materials sector, as well as in feed, food, and industrial applications. Both products hold immense market potential and social value, offering significant economic benefits. As policies promoting low‑carbon, environmentally friendly, and biodegradable solutions gain momentum, the global market for biodegradable plastics is projected to exceed tens of millions of tons, with applications expanding into an ever‑broader range of sectors and permeating every aspect of daily life, thereby serving as a vital link between humanity and nature. As a leading player in China’s bio‑based materials industry, PuliSi remains committed to its mission of “shaping a better life through nature,” guided by the principles of “green, innovation, collaboration, and win‑win.” With customers at the core, the company continuously creates value through high‑quality products and technological breakthroughs, delivering superior‑quality, cost‑effective solutions to clients in the food, packaging, agriculture, home textiles and apparel, and industrial sectors. Looking ahead, PuliSi will adhere to a pragmatic, results‑driven approach, focusing on addressing common industry challenges and overcoming technical bottlenecks in industrialization. The company will keep expanding the application scope of lactic acid and polylactic acid, enhancing its ability to provide end‑to‑end material solutions, advancing green manufacturing of PLA, and tackling the issue of non‑food biomass feedstock. In doing so, PuliSi aims to contribute to China’s—and the world’s—efforts to reduce carbon emissions and combat plastic pollution.
